ELMHURST, Ill. – For the fourth time this season, junior Kristin Bukata was tagged as the CCIW Women's Basketball Student-Athlete of the Week, after leading the Bluejays to a pair of victories over Wheaton and Millikin last week.
Bukata averaged 20.5 points and 11.5 rebounds over both games, along with 8.5 assists. In the home victory over Wheaton on Wednesday night, the guard came just one assist shy of a triple-double, compiling 19 points and 14 boards. At Millikin on Saturday, Bukata tallied 22 points, nine rebounds, and eight assists in 40 minutes on the court.
This season, Bukata continues to lead all of NCAA Division III with 152 total assists, and 8.3 assists per game. The Valparaiso, Ind. native also ranks fourth nationally with a 2.76 assist-to-turnover ratio.
In addition, Bukata looks to be the latest member of the Bluejays' 1,000-point club; with 979 career points, the junior will help lead the Jays on Wednesday when they host Carroll inside Faganel Hall. Tipoff with the Pioneers is set for 7:00 p.m.
