Bukata Leads with a Double Double, Bluejays Create Separation Early for the Win

ELMHURST, Ill. — The Elmhurst University women's basketball team created separation early on against Wheaton Wednesday evening, cruising to an 82–52 victory over Wheaton (Ill.) at R.A. Faganel Hall. The Bluejays controlled the game from the opening play and never relinquished the lead, building separation in each quarter to secure the definitive win.

Elmhurst set the tone early, opening the contest with a 17–10 first quarter before extending the margin with a 26-point second period. The Bluejays shot efficiently throughout the night, finishing 29-of-57 from the field and knocking down 10 three-pointers, while holding Wheaton to 32.2 shooting percentage.

Four Bluejays reached double figures, led by Natalie Harty, who poured in a game-high 21 points on 6-of-14 shooting, including five three-pointers. Kristin Bukata followed with 19 points, nine assists, and fourteen rebounds tacking on another double-double to her name. Maia Lewers added eight points and three assists, while Natalie Robinson chipped in 10 points and seven rebounds to provide balance inside. Anna Kleszynski contributed five points and nine rebounds, helping Elmhurst dominate the glass with a 44–29 rebounding advantage.

Elmhurst's depth was well represented, as the Bluejays matched Wheaton with 19 bench points. Diellza Dalipi added four points, while Ella Conyers tacked on eight points and two rebounds. Late in the game Jacy Fierst came in with a 3-pointer and one rebound while Macie Gil Ramos provided productive minutes as Elmhurst maintained pressure throughout the lineup.

Defensively, Elmhurst forced 16 turnovers and converted them into 19 points, while also outscoring Wheaton 36–26 in the paint. The Bluejays consistently pushed the pace, finishing with an edge in fast-break points 8-5 limiting Wheaton's perimeter efficiency.

Elmhurst closed the game strong with a 23-point fourth quarter, shooting 41.2 percent in the final period to put the contest out of reach. With the win, the Bluejays improved to 10–8 overall and continued their strong play at home as conference action moved forward.
