Men's Lacrosse takes road win over No. 19 Denison

GRANVILLE, Ohio – Elmhurst Men's Lacrosse made some program history on Saturday afternoon, earning the Bluejays' first-ever win over a nationally-ranked team with an 11-10 victory over No. 19 Denison (Ohio).

Elmhurst took an early first-quarter lead after three straight goals put the visitors ahead 3-1. Fischer Son scored the first two goals of the day for Elmhurst, followed by a goal from Charlie Ferree. Both sides would score three times before the end of the first half, with Eli Spence's first goal of the game coming inside of two minutes left to put the Jays ahead 6-4 at the break.

Spence struck again midway through the third quarter, giving Elmhurst a three-goal advantage for the first time at the 9:22 mark.

Leading 9-6 after another goal from Son with 9:17 to play in the fourth, Denison would rally for three straight goals while playing a man up, in a 62-second stretch, tying the match at 9-9 with 7:12 to play.

The Bluejays moved back in front with a goal from Spence at the 5:58 mark, then doubled their lead from Spence again 90 seconds later. Denison would strike with one more in the closing seconds, but Elmhurst would hold on for the road win.

Elmhurst improves their record to 2-0 in the early season with a pair of victories away from home, and look to keep the momentum into their home opener when they return to Langhorst Field and host Aurora on Saturday, Feb. 28, at 1:00 p.m.
