WAUKEGAN, Ill. - The Elmhurst University women's bowling team opened its 2026-27 campaign with a second-place finish in the DIII Roundup at Bertrand Lanes.

The Bluejays finished the tournament with a 6-3 record, highlighted by a victory over defending Collegiate Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) champion Carroll University on the second day of competition.

Elmhurst opened the tournament with Baker matches against Rockford University, Edgewood College, Illinois Wesleyan University and Marian University. The Bluejays defeated Rockford 721-645, Edgewood 854-746 and Illinois Wesleyan 869-780 before falling to Marian 944-775.

The Bluejays earned three victories in traditional matches on the second day, defeating Augustana, Carthage and Carroll while falling to Aurora in their third match of the day. Elmhurst posted its highest set of the tournament with a 969 in the victory over Carroll.

Kylie Fiermuga led the Bluejays with a seventh-place finish, totaling 901 over five games with scores of 194, 145, 180, 169 and 213. Mary Graves followed in eighth place with an 898 series, recording scores of 188, 158, 168, 213 and 171. Contessa Szymczak, Hannah Farooqui and Allison Mundt also competed for Elmhurst, finishing with individual series totals of 822, 789 and 803, respectively.

Elmhurst entered match play as the No. 2 seed before falling to the Sabres 3-1 in a best-of-five match, closing its season-opening tournament with a runner-up finish.
