ELMHURST, Ill. – The Bluejay attack would struggle in the second half, as Elmhurst dropped a road battle to Carroll, 92-61 on Wednesday night.
Four players would reach double figures, led by Aidyn Boone's 15 points, but a season-high 21 turnovers committed by the Jays would slow the offense. Sebastian Blachut finished with 13 points, Vinnie Adjahoungbeta scored 12, and Dominic Trelenberg posted 10.
The Bluejays opened with an early lead after buckets from Blachut and Trelenberg, but a scoring drought of nearly three minutes would allow the Pioneers to take a 14-6 lead by the 14:21 mark. Elmhurst would briefly take the lead after Boone would give the Jays eight unanswered points to go up 30-29 with under four minutes until the halftime break, but the home team would take a four-point lead by the end of the half, 38-34.
Carroll outscored Elmhurst 54-27 after the halftime break to pull away, including a 10-0 run to start the second period. The Pios would maintain a double-digit lead throughout the second half to close out the night.
The Bluejays will look to bounce back on Saturday, when they travel to North Park. Tipoff with the Vikings is set for 4:15 p.m.
