Elmhurst University Athletics heads into another packed week of action from September 8–14, with golf, tennis, soccer, volleyball, and football all in competition. The slate is highlighted by three home promotional events: football hosts its first Pack the Nest game of the season on Saturday against Rockford, volleyball opens its home schedule Wednesday with a Mental Health Awareness Night, and women's soccer celebrates Senior Night and Soccer Shots Day on Saturday evening against Great Lakes Christian.
Men's Golf
Elmhurst men's golf is coming off a 10th-place finish out of 19 teams at the Aurora Double Gun and a strong runner-up showing at the Delaware CC Shootout in Muncie, Ind.
The Bluejays now take on another challenging week with three rounds of tournament play. Elmhurst opens at the Carthage Firebirds Fall Classic, beginning Monday, September 8, at Ives Grove Golf Links in Sturtevant, Wis., before closing the event Tuesday, September 9, at The Club at Strawberry Creek in Kenosha, Wis. Later that same day, Elmhurst heads to Joliet for the St. Francis Fall Classic at Wedgewood Golf Course.
Women's Golf
The Bluejays turned in a runner-up finish at the Judson Fall Invite before placing fifth after the opening round of the Marian Invite this past week.
Elmhurst continues the Marian Invite on Monday, September 8, as they conclude play at Rolling Meadows and Whispering Springs in Fond du Lac, Wis. Two days later, on Wednesday, September 10, the Bluejays continue their early-season schedule with a trip to St. Andrews Golf & Country Club in West Chicago for the Benedictine Fall Invite.
Women's Tennis
Elmhurst women's tennis began its fall home schedule with a setback against Wheaton on September 6.
The Bluejays look to bounce back this week, opening at home on Tuesday, September 9, with a non-conference match against Oakton College. Elmhurst stays on its home courts the following day, September 10, hosting CCIW opponent Augustana at 4:30 p.m. The week continues on the road Friday, September 12, with a 4:00 p.m. match at Illinois Wesleyan. Elmhurst then returns home Saturday, September 13, for a conference showdown against North Central.
Women's Soccer
The Bluejays opened their season with a 1-0 win at Benedictine before falling 4-0 at nationally ranked No. 22 Illinois Tech.
Elmhurst now begins its week on Tuesday, September 9, under the lights at Langhorst Field, hosting Ripon College at 7:00 p.m. After traveling to Appleton, Wis., on Friday, September 12, for a 7:00 p.m. matchup at Lawrence, the Bluejays return home Saturday, September 13, to host Great Lakes Christian College at 5:00 p.m. Saturday's contest will serve as Senior Night and Soccer Shots Day, honoring Elmhurst's graduating players while also welcoming local youth soccer participants to Langhorst Field.
Men's Soccer
Elmhurst men's soccer went 2-1 last week, picking up home and road wins over Dubuque (2-0) and Webster (1-0), while dropping a close contest to WashU.
The Bluejays return to Langhorst Field on Wednesday, September 10, hosting Dominican University at 7:00 p.m. Elmhurst then hits the road Saturday, September 13, traveling to Eau Claire, Wis., for a 7:00 p.m. contest at Wisconsin-Eau Claire.
Volleyball
The Bluejays faced a tough non-conference stretch last week, falling to Edgewood, Berry, and UW-Whitewater before rebounding with a sweep of Pacific Lutheran at the UW-Whitewater Invite.
Elmhurst now turns its attention to its home schedule, opening on Wednesday, September 10, with a special Mental Health Awareness Night as the Bluejays host Illinois Tech at 6:00 p.m. inside R.A. Faganel Hall. The Bluejays are back on their home court again Friday, September 12, for a 7:00 p.m. non-conference tilt against Rhodes College. On Saturday, September 13, Elmhurst heads to the Lake Forest Triangular, facing Benedictine at noon and host Lake Forest at 2:00 p.m.
Football
The Bluejays football team will make its long-awaited home debut on Saturday, September 13, when they host Rockford University at 1:00 p.m. on Langhorst Field. The matchup has been tabbed as Elmhurst's first Pack the Nest game of the season, encouraging the campus community to come out in force to support the Bluejays.
