NAPERVILLE, Ill. - The Elmhurst University women's track and field team made history by capturing its first-ever CCIW Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championship, dominating the competition with a total of 161.5 points to finish first out of nine teams.
The Bluejays' balanced, all-around performance propelled them to the top of the podium, with scoring contributions from every event group.
Alyssa Busker was named the CCIW Women's Track Student-Athlete of the Meet, while
Brooke Greaves earned Women's First-Year Field Student-Athlete of the Meet honors. Elmhurst's coaching staff was also recognized as the CCIW Coaching Staff of the Year, and
Molly Roberts and
Esther Brown were selected for the prestigious CCIW Elite 26.
In the sprints, Alyssa Busker delivered a title-winning double with victories in the 100m and 200m. She ran 11.85 to win the 100m, then broke the school record in the 200m with a personal-best time of 23.62. Lauren Marshall and Tiana Grady placed fourth (12.14) and fifth (12.35), respectively, in the 100m, while Marshall added a sixth-place finish in the 200m (25.00), just ahead of teammate Carmela Woods in seventh (25.63). Emily Mikos recorded a personal-best 27.00 in the 200m prelims. Woods also earned a third-place finish in the 400m, running a personal-best 57.11, the second-fastest time in Elmhurst history.
In the middle-distance races, Nayeli Villegas placed sixth in the 800m final with a personal-best 2:19.28, the fourth-fastest time in school history. Three other Bluejays ran personal bests in the 800m prelims: Molly Roberts (2:21.18), Keagan Burke (2:26.39), and Paige Rewerts (2:28.51). In the 1500m, Ashley Kachurik placed fourth in 4:47.49, Molly Roberts took eighth in 4:53.75, and Alexis Rivas ran a personal-best 5:31.64. In the distance events, Riley Wieringa and Jade Benavides ran lifetime bests in the 5000m at 19:26.35 and 19:48.54, respectively, while Alyssa Roelli posted a personal-best 40:35.42 in the 10,000m.
Elmhurst dominated the 100m hurdles, sweeping the top three positions. Tiana Grady took the title in 14.32, a personal best and the second-fastest time in program history. Nakala Nadeau followed closely in second (14.62), while Brooke Greaves placed third with a personal-best 14.68, ranking third all-time at Elmhurst. Anna Andretich added an eighth-place finish (15.57), after running a personal-best 15.36 in the prelims. In the 400m hurdles, Gianna Konieczny advanced through prelims with a personal-best 1:07.14, the third-fastest time in school history, and placed eighth in the final with a time of 1:10.08.
The Bluejays continued to rack up points in the 3000m steeplechase, where Ashley Kachurik claimed third in 11:05.88, the second-fastest time in Elmhurst history. Esther Brown placed seventh in 11:44.93, and Jessica Solar ran a personal-best 11:59.69 to take ninth, a mark that now ranks eighth in school history.
In the relays, Elmhurst was nothing short of historic. The 4x100m relay team of Tiana Grady, Lauren Marshall, Alyssa Busker, and Hannah Schwarz won the event in a record-shattering 45.62, setting new school, CCIW meet, and facility records while also posting the second-fastest time in Division III history. The 4x400m team of Carmela Woods, Sadie Hartmann, Nayeli Villegas, and Busker placed fourth in 3:57.04, the second-fastest time in school history.
Field events proved equally productive for the Bluejays. Brooke Greaves won the high jump with a personal-best 1.58m, the third-best mark in school history, and Angelina Camaci placed fourth at 1.55m. Kate Weber cleared 3.48m in the pole vault to place second and move to second all-time at Elmhurst. The Bluejays dominated the long jump, where Paulina Tinajero won with a school-record 5.84m, Chloe Selmer took second with 5.70m (second all-time), Lauren Marshall placed fourth (5.49m), and Vanessa Carr finished seventh (5.33m). Tinajero also placed third in the triple jump at 11.47m, the second-best mark in school history, while Selmer took fifth (11.32m) and Carr seventh (10.97m).
In the heptathlon, Anna Andretich finished fifth with a personal-best 3,826 points, the fourth-best total in program history. Caroline Slater placed tenth with a personal-best 3,160 points, good for tenth all-time at Elmhurst.
