GENEVA - The Elmhurst University women's track and field team opened the 2025 NCAA Division III Women's Outdoor Track & Field Championships Thursday at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio, securing a pair of all-american honors and two finals appearances on the opening day of competition.
In the women's long jump final, sophomore Paulina Tinajero and freshman Chloe Selmer each advanced into the final nine. Tinajero placed seventh overall with a leap of 5.77 meters, scoring two points for the Bluejays and earning First Team All-American honors, the first of her career after earning second team honors indoors. Selmer narrowly missed the scoring positions but finished ninth with a best jump of 5.74 meters, earning her Second Team All-American honors to follow up first team honors indoors. Selmer was the only freshman in the nation to compete in both the indoor and outdoor long jump national finals.
Elmhurst continued its success on the track, beginning with the 4x100-meter relay. The quartet of Tiana Grady, Lauren Marshall, Hannah Schwarz, and Alyssa Busker clocked in at 45.98 seconds, winning their heat and tying for the third-fastest time overall in the prelims. Their performance earned a spot in Saturday's championship final, looking to secure a national championship trophy.
Later in the evening, Busker returned for the 200-meter dash prelims and delivered a strong showing, finishing in 24.08 seconds. Her time placed her fourth overall, advancing her to Saturday's final and setting her up for a chance at an individual podium finish to close out her senior season.
Elmhurst continues their stay in Ohio tomorrow afternoon, with Nakala Nadeau running in the 100m Hurdles prelims, and Busker and Marshall running the 100m Dash prelims.
