ELMHURST, Ill. - The Elmhurst University women's track and field team delivered a strong showing at the Chicagoland Championships at Langhorst Field this past Thursday-Saturday, April 3-5, notching national rankings, personal bests, and relay dominance across multiple events.
Senior Lauren Marshall was electric in the sprints, winning the 100m prelims in a blazing 11.85. She followed it up with a finals victory in 12.02, maintaining her elite form. Marshall added a personal best 24.69 in the 200m, placing 5th.
Carmela Woods placed 6th in 12.76 in the 100m finals, earlier posting a 12.47 in the prelims. Paulina Tinajero recorded a standout 5.55m long jump, placing fourth, and a 4th-place finish in the triple jump at 11.15m.
Senior Nakala Nadeau impressed in the 100m hurdles, winning prelims in 14.85 and taking third in the final with a 15.21 clocking. Freshman Brooke Greaves also made the final, placing seventh with a time of 15.90. In the 400m hurdles, sophomore Jasmine Pickett clocked 1:08.86 for 8th place.
In the 200m, senior Alyssa Busker stole the spotlight, clocking a sensational 23.95, ranking second in DIII this season. Busker later helped the 4x400m relay to a 1st-place finish.
The Elmhurst women swept the relays, winning both the 4x100m (48.23) and 4x400m (3:58.85, DIII #15). The 4x1 squad featured Woods, Grady, Hannah Schwarz, and Emily Mikos, while the 4x4 'A' team included Woods, Busker, Sadie Hartmann, and Nayeli Villegas.
In the mid-distance races, senior Ashley Kachurik led the way in the 1500m, placing 7th with a PR of 4:46.26. Molly Roberts doubled with PRs in both the 800m (2:22.34) and 1500m (4:51.55), while freshman Sabrina Kadow impressed in the 3000m with a PR of 10:51.17. Senior Esther Brown placed fifth in the 3000m steeplechase, clocking 12:03.41 (DIII #80).
In jumps, Chloe Selmer soared to 11.17m in the triple jump, good for third, while also placing eighth in the long jump with a 5.32m mark. In the pole vault, senior Kate Weber cleared 3.40m. Caroline Slater recorded solid marks in the shot put (10.78m) and javelin (28.99m), while junior Angelina Camaci hit a PR of 1.56m in the high jump, placing sixth.
