ELMHURST, Ill. - The Elmhurst University women's track and field team turned in a series of standout performances at the Elmhurst Twilight Invite at Langhorst Field Friday evening.
In the sprints, Alyssa Busker led the way by capturing the 100-meter title with a blazing time of 11.64 seconds. Tiana Grady delivered a major highlight by finishing fourth with a personal-best time of 12.13, the fourth-fastest mark in program history. Carmela Woods took eighth in 12.66, while Jenna Smolen posted a personal-best 13.45. In the 100-meter hurdles, Brooke Greaves raced to a second-place finish in 14.88 seconds, while Nakala Nadeau placed fourth (15.29), Anna Andretich seventh (15.78), and Caylah Boyd eighth (15.79). Caroline Slater added a personal-best time of 18.40 in the event.
Violet Schramm turned in a strong performance in the 400 meters, finishing seventh with a personal-best time of 1:01.83. In the 400-meter hurdles, Gianna Konieczny placed fifth with a time of 1:09.16.
Elmhurst dominated the 800 meters with three runners in the top five. Ashley Kachurik finished second with a time of 2:20.14, marking the fourth-fastest time in Elmhurst history. Molly Roberts followed closely behind, placing fourth with a personal-best 2:21.98 (seventh all-time at Elmhurst), and Nayeli Villegas finished fifth at 2:21.99. Sabrina Kadow (2:32.18), Keagan Burke (2:33.33), and Alyssa Roelli (2:33.91) also recorded personal bests in the event.
In the 1500 meters, Kadow added another strong showing with a personal-best 5:05.39. Burke (5:18.85) and Annie Hathaway (5:46.47) also turned in personal records. Meredith Mounier continued the trend of career-best performances with a time of 11:32.05 in the 3000 meters. In the 5000 meters, Jessica Solar led the Bluejays with an eighth-place finish (19:28.09), while Riley Wieringa (10th, 19:59.11) and Alexis Rivas (20:28.15, personal best) rounded out the group.
In field events, Angelina Camaci and Caylah Boyd both cleared 1.47 meters to tie for sixth place in the high jump. Caroline Slater added an eighth-place finish in the javelin (28.47m) and also placed eighth in the shot put (9.98m).
The Bluejays dominated the long jump competition, with Chloe Selmer winning the event with a leap of 5.62 meters. Paulina Tinajero finished second (5.51m), Lauren Marshall fifth (5.28m), Vanessa Carr sixth (5.23m), and Sherlyn Carrasco ninth (5.09m). Selmer also delivered a strong second-place finish in the triple jump with a mark of 11.11 meters, while Tinajero took third (10.81m). Carr (10.29m) and Carrasco (10.16m) placed ninth and tenth, respectively.
Rounding out the night, the Bluejays' 4x400-meter relay team of Carmela Woods, Sadie Hartmann, Nayeli Villegas, and Alyssa Busker earned a second-place finish with a time of 4:15.33.
Elmhurst will look to continue its momentum heading into the 2025 CCIW Outdoor Track and Field Championships next Friday and Saturday, May 2-3, at North Central College.
