Women's Track and Field Complete Last Chance Qualifiers at Carthage, UW-LaCrosse

CARTHAGE, LA CROSSE, Wis. - The Elmhurst University women's track and field team competed in two last chance qualifiers this weekend, looking to improve their marks ahead of the NCAA Indoor Championships next weekend.

The Carthage Firebird Finale on Friday, March 7, saw strong performances in the long jump. Chloe Selmer secured second place with an impressive mark of 5.78m, while Lauren Marshall followed closely behind in third place, jumping 5.70m. Vanessa Carr also placed in the top ten, finishing eighth with a leap of 5.29m.

The momentum continued at the UW-LaCrosse Last Chance Meet on Saturday, March 8, where standout performances led to several personal bests and meet records. In the 60m dash, Alyssa Busker dominated the field, winning the event in 7.52 seconds and setting a new meet record. Lauren Marshall also impressed, running a personal-best 7.58 in the prelims, a time that ranks as the ninth fastest in Division III. Busker carried her success into the 200m, where she claimed another victory and meet record with a swift 24.49. Marshall continued her strong showing with a personal-best 25.04, placing fifth and ranking 19th in DIII.

The 400m featured a breakthrough performance from Carmela Woods, who clocked a personal-best 57.49, setting a new meet record. In the 60m hurdles, Nakala Nadeau placed fifth with a time of 8.98, while Tiana Grady followed in seventh at 9.01.

In the field events, Brooke Greaves cleared 1.54m in the high jump to finish ninth. Lauren Marshall returned in the long jump, taking sixth place with a mark of 5.54m. The highlight of the triple jump came from Chloe Selmer, who set a new school record with a personal-best leap of 11.67m, ranking her 26th in Division III.

Elmhurst looks ahead to next weekend's NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships in Rochester, New York, with official selections being announced tomorrow evening, March 9.
