Bluejays Open Outdoor Track Season at Three Weekend Events

ELMHURST, Ill. - The Elmhurst University women's track and field team delivered strong performances across three different meets to open the 2025 outdoor track season.

The Bluejays split up amongst three events, including the WashU Distance Carnival (Mar. 27-28), NCC First Chance Invite (Mar. 28-29), and the Yellowjacket Collegiate Open (Mar. 29).

At the WashU Distance Carnival, the 5000m race saw Ashley Kachurik lead the team with a personal-best time of 18:07.00, followed by Molly Roberts, who also set a new personal best at 18:53.99. Katie Nalley rounded out the group with a time of 20:17.61, demonstrating the team's depth in distance events.

The Yellowjacket Collegiate Open was highlighted by a historic sprinting performance from Alyssa Busker, who placed second in the 100m with a blazing 11.63, breaking the school record and recording the 15th fastest time in DIII history. Lauren Marshall also impressed with a personal-best 11.82 for a fifth-place finish. Busker continued her dominance in the 200m, taking first place in 24.02, another school record and personal best. In the hurdles, Nakala Nadeau finished 13th in the 100m hurdles with a time of 14.69. The 4x100m relay team of Busker, Tiana Grady, Hannah Schwarz, and Marshall set yet another school record, winning the event in 46.20.

At the NCC First Chance Invite, the team continued to shine with multiple personal bests across events. In the 100m, Emily Mikos clocked a personal-best 12.96, followed by Elisha Hannon at 13.12. The 200m was packed with personal records as Mikos (27.16), Sadie Hartmann (27.48), Violet Schramm (27.55), Anna Andretich (27.99), and Hannon (28.13) all delivered strong performances.

Sabrina Kadow led the team in the 1500m with a personal-best 5:07.27, while Keagan Burke (5:33.07) and Alexis Rivas (5:33.49) also set PRs. In the hurdles, Andretich placed seventh in the 100m hurdles, clocking 15.69, the sixth-fastest time in Elmhurst history. Gianna Konieczny finished second in the 400m hurdles in 1:10.08, the seventh-fastest in school history, while Hartmann also notched a personal best at 1:17.23.

In the field, Angelina Camaci placed ninth in the high jump (1.49m), Kate Weber secured third in the pole vault (3.36m), and Vanessa Carr continued her strong form, taking fifth in the long jump (5.34m) and second in the triple jump (11.02m). Caroline Slater rounded out the meet with a personal-best discus throw of 26.62m and a 10th-place finish in the javelin (29.36m).

UP NEXT

The Bluejays are set to host the 2025 Chicagoland Championships next weekend, April 3-5. Throwing events will begin on Thursday the 3rd at Wheaton College, while track and field events will take place at Langhorst Field on Friday and Saturday, April 4-5, with events beginning at 3:00 p.m. on Friday and 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
