ELMHURST, Ill. - The Elmhurst University women's lacrosse team hosted Milwaukee School of Engineering on Saturday afternoon, March 15th
The Bluejays (4-2), were led by
Andrea Murtland as she scored three goals, and Graice Eastman as she scored two of her own. Along with
Jacq Vanoni who made 14 saves on the night.
The Raiders (0-5), were led by Ashlyn Bode who scored two goals and added an assist.
The Bluejays would be the only team to score in the First quarter as they were able to muster two goals from Murtland and
Ashley Kay Sardon to make it 2-0 at the end of the First quarter. However the Raiders would start the Second quarter quickly with three goals halfway through the Second.
Zoe Valdevenito would draw the game equal with just under five minutes remaining in the half, but the Raiders would score just moments later bringing the first half to an end with MSOE leading 4-3.
The Third quarter would see the Bluejays once again start off hot scoring three unanswered goals in the first eight minutes of play to reclaim the lead 6-4. MSOE would then answer with a pair of goals to equalize the game once again at six a side. That would be until Eastman would score her first of the day giving the Jays a one goal lead heading into the Fourth quarter. After many chances for both sides MSOE would be the only team to score bringing us to our first ever overtime in women's lacrosse history here at Elmhurst University. Once again both teams would have many chances but in the first half of the overtime phase, Eastman would score her second of the day to score the golden goal and give the Bluejays their fourth win of the season, winning 8-7 in OT.
