ROCHESTER, N.Y. - The Elmhurst University women's track and field team had a strong opening day at the 2025 NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships Friday afternoon, competing in a trio of events.
In the field, the finals of the Long Jump saw
Lauren Marshall,
Paulina Tinajero, and
Chloe Selmer compete to open the day. Marshall put forward a mark of 5.62m to place 10th, while Tinajero leaped 5.54m for 13th place, earning both student-athletes Second Team All-American honors for their finishes. Selmer came up in the clutch, leaping 5.66m in her third and final jump of the preliminary round to qualify for the finals and earn three more jumps in the ninth position. In the finals, Selmer improved her mark to 5.68m and eighth place, finishing there and earning First Team All-American honors for the first time in her career.
Marshall and
Alyssa Busker next competed in th 60m Dash preliminary round, running in the same heat just one lane apart from each other. Marshall blazed through for a time of 7.54, a new personal best and the secodn fastest time in Elmhurst history, qualifying as one of two fastest times after the automatic qualifiers. Busker won the heat with a time of 7.52, automatically qualifying her for the finals in the event. Buskers time was fourth-fastest among the qualifiers.
Both Marshall and Busker also ran in the 200m Dash preliminary round to round out the day for Elmhurst. Marshall ran in heat one, sprinting to the tune of a new personal-best time of 24.99, breaking 25 seconds for the first time in her career and ranking third in the EU record books. Busker competed in the fifth and final heat of the event, putting forward a time of 24.39, the second-fastest time in the field, to qualify for tomorrow afternoon's finals.
Busker and Marshall wil compete in the finals of the 60m tomorrow afternoon (March 15) at 2:35 p.m. CT, while Busker will run in the 200m final at 4:30p.m. CT.
