Bluejays Handle Falcons

RECAP

ELMHURST, Ill. - The Elmhurst University men's lacrosse team dominated the matchup against Concordia Wisconsin, securing a decisive 16-6 victory at Langhorst Field on Wednesday (Feb. 26) evening.

With the win, Elmhurst improved to 3-0 on the season, while Concordia Wisconsin dropped to 0-2.

The Bluejays set the tone early and never looked back, displaying a strong offensive attack and a resilient defense. Elmhurst took control with a 3-2 lead after the first period and expanded their advantage significantly by halftime, leading 8-3. The third period was more balanced, but Elmhurst sealed the game with a commanding six-goal fourth quarter.

Eli Spence was the standout performer, tallying five goals and three assists to lead all scorers. Fischer Son contributed four goals, while Hunter Hernandez added two. Brenden Crouse played a key role with a goal and an assist. Goaltender Noah Mickelson made 11 saves, limiting Concordia Wisconsin's scoring opportunities effectively, moving to 3-0 on the season in the net.

Elmhurst came out strong, scoring twice within the first two minutes, with goals from Eli Spence and Brenden Crouse. Concordia Wisconsin responded with two goals of their own from Gio Nowotarski and Max Esposito, leveling the game at 2-2. However, a late-period goal by Charlie Ferree gave Elmhurst a 3-2 edge heading into the second quarter.

The Bluejays took control in the second quarter, netting five goals while allowing just one. Hunter Hernandez struck twice, with assists from Pete Grebe and Eli Spence. Fischer Son added a goal, followed by a power-play goal from Kaden Ames. Concordia Wisconsin's lone goal of the period came on a power play by Nowotarski. Elmhurst entered halftime with a commanding 8-3 lead.

Elmhurst extended their lead with two goals in the third quarter from Pete Grebe and Sam Hoff. Concordia Wisconsin managed to score a power-play goal courtesy of Bryce Petersen. Elmhurst's defense remained firm, and goalie Noah Mickelson made key stops to preserve the lead at 10-4 heading into the final period.

The Bluejays closed out the game in dominant fashion, adding six more goals to their tally. Fischer Son scored twice, while Eli Spence netted two more goals, including a power-play strike. Concordia Wisconsin fought back with goals from Max Esposito and Preston Meier, but it was not enough to overcome Elmhurst's offensive surge.
