Bluejays Kick off 2025-2026 Season in Big Way

11/7/2025 9:42:00 AM

The Elmhurst Bluejays men's wrestling team kicked off the 2025-26 season in resounding fashion, traveling to Wheaton and posting a dominant 39-9 dual-meet victory over the host Thunder. The win marks a powerful tone-setter for a season of high expectations.

At 125 and 133 pounds the Bluejays secured forfeit wins, starting the dual off with a significant lead. At 141 pounds, Ulises Rosas notched a fall at 1:46 over Wheaton's Toby Laird, starting the dominance. Anthony Bitner followed with a major decision, 14-6 at 149, and Rhenzo Augusto piled up a 17-3 major decision at 157. Corey Bradley edged an 8-6 decision at 174, and at 184, Mataeo Blessing registered a 22-6 technical fall at the seven-minute mark. Finally, Mike Milovich at heavyweight (285 lb) wrapped up the scoring with a 12-1 major decision, rounding out the Bluejays' full-throttle start. Meanwhile, the Thunder's two victories — at 165 and 197 — could not stop the flood.

This team-wide effort reflects a squad prepared, unified, and ready to carry the momentum forward. The depth shown — from forfeits to bonus-point wins — points to a roster confident in its training, strategy, and execution. For Elmhurst's coaching staff and athletes, this opening dual is not just a single mark in the win column, but a statement of intent.

As the season unfolds, the Bluejays will look to build on this strong foundation: tightening margins, converting opportunities into bonus points, and continuing to assert themselves within the league. A 39-9 road win on opening night serves as a potent sign that this team is built not just to compete — but to contend.
