Elmhurst Finishes 13th at Windy City Classic

Des Plains, IL. – The Elmhurst University women's bowling team placed 13th overall at the 2025 Windy City Classic, a three-day event held October 31–November 2 and hosted by Valparaiso University. Competing against some of the Midwest's top programs, the Bluejays totaled 7,462 pins across ten matches — 3,678 in Baker play and 3,784 in traditional play — to post a team average of 149.2 pins per game.

Elmhurst's top finisher was Mary Graves, who rolled games of 184, 143, 164, 180, and 149 for a five-game series of 820 (164.0 avg), placing 37th individually among nearly 100 competitors. Teresa Duffrin followed closely in 38th after totaling 818 184–154–168–157–155 (163.6 avg). Allison Mundt added 805 pins 175–179–156–150–145 (161.0 avg), while Kylie Fiermuga contributed a 735 series 139–166–157–126–147 (147.0 avg). Contessa Szymczak rounded out Elmhurst's primary lineup with a 399 three-game total 140–136–123 (133.0 avg). Freshman Catalina La Fronza also saw action, posting a high score of 116 , respectively. Gabby Figueroa, continued to show her value through out the competition weekend, joining the line up when the Bluejays were in narrow sight.

The Bluejays faced a challenging schedule through the qualifying rounds, meeting nationally ranked opponents such as McKendree, Maryville, and Wisconsin-Whitewater. Elmhurst posted its top team traditional score of 822 against Carthage and added competitive Baker sets of 763, 747, and 736 during the opening sessions.

Maryville University captured the tournament title with 9,418 total pins, followed by Wright State and McKendree.

Elmhurst will return to action later this month at the Warhawk Classic in Kenosha, Wisconsin.
