ELMHURST, Ill.— Elmhurst men's basketball continued its impressive early-season surge with a commanding 75–50 victory over Wisconsin Lutheran on Saturday afternoon at R.A. Faganel Hall, using an outstanding blend of veteran stability and a a talented group of freshmen to move to 2–0 on the year.

From the opening minutes, the Bluejays controlled the game with balance, toughness, energy, and a level of maturity well beyond an early season contest. Elmhurst dominated defensively—forcing 17 turnovers and turning them into 21 points—while controlling the glass with a 41–36 rebounding advantage. The result was a complete effort that showcased exactly why excitement is building around the Bluejays this year.

Dominic Trelenrberg led the charge with a near double-double clinic, posting 17 points, 12 rebounds, and three assists while setting the tone on both ends. His combination of physicality and composure continues to showcase him as one of Elmhurst's most dependable and versatile players. Right alongside him, Sebastian Blachut was sharp and efficient, finishing with 15 points on 7-of-11 shooting, consistently pushing the tempo and punishing WLC in transition. Aidyn Boone also delivered another strong effort in the with five points, three rebounds, and two blocks.

The newest members of the team, however, made it clear that this year's Bluejays have depth, energy, and extreme upside. Freshman Luke Smith poured in 12 points, knocked down two threes, and added three assists, three rebounds, two steals, and two blocks—impacting nearly every aspect of the game, while fellow freshman Jeffrey Williams came off the bench and gave Elmhurst instant life, scoring 10 points.

Defensively, the Bluejays were relentless. Elmhurst racked up nine steals and five blocks while holding WLC to 36 percent shooting from the field and just 4-of-13 from deep. The Bluejays also owned the paint, outscoring the Warriors 44–28 inside and maintaining a double-digit lead for nearly the entire game.

The balanced offensive attack extended well the initial stats.  Vinnie Adjahoungbeta posted a strong 5-point, 12-rebound performance, controlling the boards and sparking transition opportunities. EJ Marshall added valuable minutes with three points and a transition layup, while Oliver Adams and Jack Cherry each contributed key baskets to keep the momentum rolling.

Through two games, Elmhurst has shown an impressive blend of returning talent stepping confidently into expanded roles and a freshman class that is already making a major impact. The speed, physicality, and depth displayed in Saturday's win serve as early evidence that this year's Bluejays have the makeup of a team capable of turning heads.

Elmhurst looks to keep its strong start going as the young season continues, but one thing is already clear—this group is bringing energy, excitement, and a brand of team-first basketball that fans will want to follow closely.
