Women's Track and Field Earn Runner-Up Honors at Aurora Grand Prix

CHICAGO, Ill. - The Elmhurst University women's track and field team placed second in a field of 15 teams at the Aurora Grand Prix at Gately Indoor Track in Chicago on Saturday (Jan. 25).

The Jays totaled 122 team points to finish second, five behind University of Chicago and more than 40 points ahead of third-place Saint Xavier.

The Bluejays had five event titles in the meet, with Alyssa Busker taking home two in the 60m (7.59) and the 200m (24.57). Nakala Nadeau took home the title in the 60m Hurdles with a season-best time of 8.87, ranking as the eighth-best time in Division III this season.

Freshman Chloe Selmer had a career-best day, setting new personal records and taking home the titles in the long jump and triple jump. Her mark of 5.53m in the long jump ranks as the 14th-best in DIII this season, and a jump of 11.51. in the triple jump ranks 13th in the country.

EVENT RECAPS/NOTES

In the 60m, Alyssa Busker secured first place with a time of 7.59, followed by Lauren Marshall in second with 7.70. The 60m hurdles saw Nakala Nadeau claim first place with a season-best time of 8.87, ranking her 8th in Division III. Tiana Grady and Brooke Greaves placed fourth (9.14) and sixth (9.39), respectively. Alyssa Busker also dominated the 200m, finishing first in 24.57, while Lauren Marshall placed third with a time of 25.19, earning a Division III #14 ranking and recording the fourth fastest time in EU indoor history. In the 400m, Carmela Woods finished eighth (1:00.24), while Sherlyn Cebrero Flores (1:06.02), Violet Schramm (1:06.21), and Jenna Smolen (1:07.29) all achieved personal bests, finishing 13th, 15th, and 18th, respectively.

In the distance events, Molly Roberts ran a personal best in the mile, finishing 17th in 5:26.04, and Meredith Mounier recorded a personal best of 11:46.56 in the 3000m, finishing 18th. In field events, Angelina Camaci placed third in the high jump with a personal best of 1.56m, the 8th best mark in EU indoor history, while Brooke Greaves also achieved a personal best of 1.50m, finishing eighth. In the long jump, Chloe Selmer took first place with a personal best mark of 5.53m, ranking her 14th in Division III and recording the third-best mark in EU indoor history. Lauren Marshall secured second place with a jump of 5.41m. In the pole vault, Kate Weber achieved a season-best of 3.05m to finish second.

The triple jump saw Chloe Selmer continue her stellar performance with another first-place finish, leaping a personal best of 11.51m, ranking 13th in Division III and earning the third-best mark in EU indoor history. Paulina Tinajero finished second with a jump of 11.30m, while Sherlyn Carrasco recorded a personal best of 10.13m to place ninth. Finally, the 4x200m relay team of Emily Mikos, Gianna Konieczyny, Jasmine Pickett, and Violet Schramm placed fourth with a time of 1:51.59.
