MONTGOMERY, Ill. - The Elmhurst University men's soccer team fought back from a late deficit to scratch a 1-1 draw on the road at Aurora University Sunday afternoon.
Elmhurst (1-0-1) conceded a late goal to the Spartans in the 84th minute, threatening to drop their first defeat of the season. However, a strong shot off the foot of
Caden Sultzbaugh in the 89th minute evened the score at one, allowing the Jays to scratch a draw.
Aurora (0-1-1) dominated on the offensive front on the evening, putting 14 shots forward to Elmhurst's four, and earning seven corner kicks to none for the Jays. Despite the strong performance, goalkeeper
Niyen Ruffin made four saves on the afternoon and allowed just one goal to help the Elmhurst cause.
