ELMHURST, Ill. – Elmhurst University Athletics has announced the resignation of Scott Wachholz as head softball coach. Wachholz will be pursuing a new career path.

"We would like to thank Coach Wachholz for all that he has done during his tenure at Elmhurst. Our softball team has thrived under Coach Wachholz's leadership, and he has been a tremendous member of our athletic department. We will miss him dearly, and wish him the best in his future endeavors" said Dr. Glen Brittich, Director of Athletics.

"Being a part of this department and university for the last five years has been a tremendous experience that I am proud to be forever connected to. It has given me so many great memories and has allowed me to develop so many special relationships with administration, colleagues, and student-athletes throughout our campus community. Although, goodbyes are always hard and there are many aspects I will miss, I am excited to start a new professional chapter and what lies ahead for my family" said Wachholz. "I would like to thank Dr. Brittich and our athletic administration team for their support, all my assistant coaches for their unwavering commitment to the program, and all of the players who I had the opportunity to coach. I am so appreciative that softball was the avenue for us to create such memorable experiences."

Wachholz began as the Bluejays' head softball coach in the 2020 season, leading the Bluejays to 44 victories during his tenure. Elmhurst qualified for the 2023 CCIW Softball Tournament, the first time the program had done so in a full season since 2012, and coached seven All-CCIW honorees in his four seasons.

A search for Elmhurst's next head softball coach will begin immediately.
