WAUKESHA, Wis. -Â The Elmhurst University baseball team dropped a Saturday afternoon twinbill with Carroll University.
Elmhurst (6-16, 2-4 CCIW) fell behind early in the opening game, giving up five runs in the third and another two in the fourth, and a late rally from the Jays prevented a shutout but ended in a 3-8 loss.
Javier Cervantes led Elmhurst at the plate with a 2-for-4 effort and an RBI, while the bullpen duo of
Spencer Anton and
Robert Brenneman pitched the final 4.1 innings strong, combining to five up just one run and four hits.
In game two, Elmhurst kept it close, scoring six runs in the first three innings to lead, 6-4, but let the lead go in the seventh and fell, 6-10.
Jaden Mitchell knocked in two runs on two hits in game two, while
Rock Smith and
Evan Johnson matched Mitchell with two hits each. On the mound,
Cole Bozzi started the game and kept the Jays in the game with six innings pitched, but did not factor into the pitching decision as
Logan Leach took the loss to drop to 0-4 on the season.

Elmhurst will wrap their road stretch with a game in Decatur at Millikin University on Monday, April 8 at 4:00 p.m.
