BLOOMINGTON, Ill. -Â The Elmhurst University baseball team downed Illinois Wesleyan, 2-1, in ten innings Friday evening on the road for their second CCIW win of the season.
Elmhurst (6-14, 2-2 CCIW) used strong pitching to keep the Titan offense at bay, knotting the game in the seventh inning and forcing extra innings.
Freddie March was the hero of the day for the Bluejays, launching a solo home run over the left field wall to give Elmhurst the one-run lead.
Joseph Ingratta earned the win by shutting down Illinois Wesleyan over the final 3.1 innings, including working out of a jam in the tenth to secure the victory for the Jays.
Jaden Mitchell and
Ryan Thrawl each had a pair of hits for the Elmhurst offense, while
Zach Keplar pitched 6.2 strong innings, giving up just four hits and one run, but did not factor into the decision on the mound.Â

Elmhurst heads to Waukesha, Wis. tomorrow, April 6, for a doubleheader against Carroll University beginning at 12:00 p.m.
