KENOSHA, Wis. -Â The Elmhurst University baseball team dropped the third and final game of the weekend series on the road to Carthage College, falling 4-7 Sunday afternoon.
Elmhurst (6-21, 2-9 CCIW) took an early advantage over the Firebirds on an RBI double off the bat of
Freddie March, but played from behind the rest of the contest, having a late rally fall short in the Bluejays' defeat.
March was one of three Elmhurst players to record an RBI in the game, with
Ryan Thrawl and
Erik Malott also contributing runs.
Zach Kolb provided a pair of hits for the Jays as well. On the mound,
Zach Keplar took the loss to drop to 0-5 on the season, but the final bullpen duo of
Logan Leach and
Cody Baker combined to pitch two innings keeping the Firebirds off the board and giving up just one with, with Leach striking out three batters to keep Elmhurst within reach.Â

Elmhurst will take a two-week break in action before traveling to Aurora, Ill. for a doubleheader against Aurora University on Saturday, March 16 beginning at 1:00 p.m.
