CAROL STREAM, Ill. -Â The Elmhurst University baseball team fell, 1-10, to Augustana College Saturday afternoon to drop their opening series of CCIW action.
Elmhurst (5-14, 1-2 CCIW) gained an early 1-0 advantage through one inning, but multi-run innings in both the second and sixth from the Vikings (15-6, 2-1 CCIW) proved to be too much for the Bluejays to overcome.
Elmhurst's one RBI on the day came off the bat of
Ryan Thrawl, while Mary Fraga was able to scratch two hits in the game while scoring Elmhurst's only run.Â
On the mound,
Joseph Ingratta fell to 2-2 on the season after starting the game and giving up nine runs (six earned), but the bullpen finished the game strong with
Spencer Anton (0.1 innings pitched, one run) and
Jonathan Boyles (3.0 innings pitched, no runs, three strikeouts) limiting the Vikings to just one run across the final three innings.
UP NEXT
Elmhurst continues CCIW action next Wednesday, April 3, hosting Illinois Wesleyan University for a 3:00 p.m. first pitch at Butterfield Park in Elmhurst.
