Elmhurst, Ill. - The Elmhurst men's lacrosse team defeated Aurora University 16-8 on Wednesday night at Langhorst Field.
Bluejays (7-2), were led by
Eli Spence as he scored four goals and two assists on the night.
Hunter Hernandez added four goals of his own, while
Kaden Ames also added three goals and an assist.
Brenden Crouse had three assists on the night while
Ryan Swank added a goal and assist.
Charlie Ferree,
Parker O'Leary,
Ethan Stepanek, and
Chris Haycock all added a goal on the night as well.
Tony Vazquez went 21/26 in faceoffs with a .800% win rate. And Goalkeeper
Andrew Lacksonen made eight saves on the night earning his sixth win of the season.
Spartans (4-5), Brody Macdonald led the way on offense as he scored two goal and had one assist. Goalkeeper Asher Deputy made 11 save on the night.
The Bluejays would open up the scoring with a goals from Ferree and Hernandez. Aurora would claw one back but O'Leary would add another goal for the Bluejays taking a 3-1 lead. Aurora would add one more before the end of the first quarter to make it a 3-2 game. In the second the Bluejays would start to widen their lead as they would score six goals with three coming from Spence, two from Ames and one from Hernandez. Aurora would only add one goal making it a 9-3 lead for the Bluejays.
In the third Aurora would score two goals to close the Bluejays lead down to four, but the Jays would add onto their lead with three goals coming from Stepanek, Hernandez, and Ames giving the Bluejays a 12-5 lead. In the fourth quarter the Jays would add one four more goals from Haycock, Swank, Spence, and Hernandez as they would go on to win 16-8.
