ELMHURST, Ill. -Â The Elmhurst University men's lacrosse team downed Albion College, 17-12, Saturday afternoon at Langhorst Field.
The Bluejays scored five times in each of the first two quarters, and added another seven in the third to put up their third-straight victory and improve to 3-1 on the season.
The trio of
Eli Spence,
Hunter Hernandez, and
Kaden Ames each provided four goals for the Bluejay offense, while five other Bluejays also tallied a score to fuel Elmhurst's best offensive game of the season. Hernandez and Ames also added assists to each total a team-high five points.
Faceoff man
Tony Vazquez provided another stellar performance at midfield, going 20-for-26 in faceoffs against the Britons, tallying a season-high 18 ground balls in the process.Â
Gabe Henry and
Max Ridenour provided strong defense for the Bluejays, with each causing a pair of turnovers and Henry totaling seven ground balls. In goal,
Andrew Lacksonen earned the victory to improve to 2-0 on the season after totaling nine saves in his second start of the season.
Albion (1-3) made a valiant comeback effort with six goals in the fourth, but the late surge was not enough to propel the visitors to victory. Ethan Rottell led the Britons in points (six) and goals (five), while Marcus Haynie tallied three goals and an assist.Â

Elmhurst wraps up their four-game homestand next Saturday, Mar. 9, with a matchup against Oberlin College at Langhorst Field. Faceoff is set for 1:00 p.m.
