JACKSONVILLE, Ill. -Â The Elmhurst University wrapped up their stay in Jacksonville, Ill. Sunday afternoon, dropping both sides of a doubleheader to Grinnell College.
Elmhurst (0-7) was unable to handle the hot offense of Grinnell (5-6), giving up 28 runs across the two games. Elmhurst fell in game one, 1-15 in eight innings, and dropped game two 2-13 in seven innings.
In game one, both
Javier Cervantes and
Evan Johnson led the way with a 2-for-3 effort at the plate, while the relief trio of
Jonathan Boyles,
Cody Baker, and
Marty Fraga provided four strong innings on the mound. Fraga again stepped up in game two, this time at the plate, going 3-for-3 and scoring a run while also stealing a pair of bases.
UP NEXT
Elmhurst is set for a stretch of nine games in seven days when the Bluejays head south to Florida for the RussMat Central Florida Invitational, beginning on Saturday, March 16 against Mount St. Joseph University at 9:00 a.m. CT.
