Elmhurst Ill. - The Elmhurst men's lacrosse team took home their first win of the season in a tight match against Colorado College on Friday night.
Bluejays (1-1), were led by
Eli Spence who netted five goals and one assist for six total points on the night.
Brenden Crouse had a five point night with three goals and two assists, and
Chris Haycock netted two goals.
Hunter Hernandez,
Kaden Ames,
Parker O'Leary, and
Ethan Stepanek all scored a goal as well with O'Leary and Stepanek also adding an assist as well.
Tony Vazquez went 16/29 (.551%) in faceoffs and
Noah Mickelson made nine saves on the night in the win.
Tigers (0-1), were led by Thomas Power as he scored four goals and netted one assist. Goalkeeper Ben Anastos made 12 saves on the night in the loss.
In the first quarter with the help of Spence the Bluejays would be up 2-1 until the Tigers would score four unanswered goals, one of which was a man-up. Hernandez would get one back before the end of the first but the Bluejays would be trailing 5-3. In the second, the Bluejays would start hot as they would score four unanswered goals of their own with two by Spence and one by both Crouse and Haycock. The Tigers would score one on a man-up and one more before the end of the half to even the score 7-7.
In the third, the Bluejays would again score four unanswered goals one by each, Haycock, Ames, Spence, and Crouse to take a 11-7 lead into the fourth. But the Tigers wouldn't quit as they would score four more unanswered in just a few minutes tying the score 11-11. But Crouse would score one just a minute later to get the lead right back for the Bluejays, and O'Leary would score on a man-up to make it a two goal lead. The tigers would get one right back followed by Stepanek bringing the lead back to two. The Tigers would score one more when with a man-up and four minutes remaining, the tigers would get one final shot in the final seconds but would fail to even muster a shot as the Bluejays would hold on for their first win of the season, 14-13.

The Bluejays will return to action on Febuary 24th, as they will host Hope College at 1:00 pm.
