OSHKOSH, Wis. - The Elmhurst University women's track and field team kicked off the 2024-25 indoor season strong, placing second in a field of nine teams at the UW-Oshkosh Earlybird Invite on Saturday (Dec. 7).
Elmhurst placed 2nd with 116 points, trailing behind the host UW-Oshkosh (1st, 194 points) and just ahead of Division II foe North Michigan (3rd, 107.5 points).
The Jays had multiple record-breaking performances in the meet, including
Alyssa Busker's explosive Division III debut in the 60-meter race. Busker, a multi-time NAIA national champion, made her Bluejay debut by running a 7.45 in the 60m final, setting a new Bluejay school record, a new CCIW record, and the third-fastest time in Division III history with the event win.
Lauren Marshall also set a new school record in the long jump, jumping 5.58m to break her own school record of 5.48 set in 2023.
Molly Roberts also highlighted the meet with a first-place finish in the 3000m. Overall, the Bluejays recorded 15 different marks across both track and field events that placed them within the top-ten on the all-time Elmhurst records list.
EVENT RECAPS
60m Dash:
- Busker took 1st place, clocking 7.45, setting a school and CCIW record and ranking 3rd in DIII history.
- Marshall secured 3rd with 7.79 (6th all-time).
- Tiana Grady placed 6th in 7.85 (8th all-time).
200m Dash:
400m Dash:
- Woods led the team in 2nd place, running 59.31, the 4th-best time in program history.
- Gianna Konieczny finished 6th with 1:03.54.
- Violet Schramm was 8th in 1:06.41.
60m Hurdles:
3000m:
- Roberts dominated the field, taking 1st place with a time of 10:50.08.
800m:
- Nayeli Villegas secured 5th place in 2:21.52, the 4th-best time in school history.
- Sherlyn Cerebro Flores finished 7th in 2:37.53.
High Jump:
Pole Vault:
- Kate Weber vaulted 3.05m to place 6th, ranking 4th all-time.
Long Jump:
- Marshall set a school record with a 4th-place jump of 5.58m.
- Vanessa Carr placed 7th at 5.40m (5th all-time).
- Chloe Selmer finished 8th with 5.39m (6th all-time).
Triple Jump:
- Paulina Tinajero soared to 2nd place with a leap of 11.57m (2nd all-time).
- Selmer took 3rd with 11.08m (5th all-time).
- Carr placed 5th, jumping 10.77m (6th all-time).
