SAN ANTONIO, Texas. - The Elmhurst University men's soccer team fell in their season opener, 1-3, to Trinity University Friday night at Paul McGinaly Field.
The Bluejays (0-1) were led in scoring by
Alan Lopez-Paredes, who scored his first goal of the campaign, while
Jonathan Mueller tailed an assist.
Roland Dearborn,
Edmund Conroy,
Adan Ramirez and
John Kiwarkis all had shots in the opening contest for the 2023 season. As a team, the Bluejays totaled five corner kicks on the night.
Trinity (1-0) scored three goals on the night by Luke Mayfield, Hunter Cain and Louis Instrall.
Trinity opened the scoring just 15 minutes into the game and held a one-score advantage heading into the second half. The Bluejays were able to knot the game 15 minutes into the second half, and kept the pressure on the Tigers with both teams looking for the go-ahead goal.
Tied at one with just eight minutes left in the contest, the Tigers were able to find the back of the net to take a one-goal lead, and added an insurance goal in the final minute to extend their winning margin to two.
UP NEXT
The Bluejays will be in action on Sunday, September 3rd in Georgetown, Texas where they will play Southwestern University at 1:00pm.
