ELMHURST, Ill. - The 2023-24 sports calendar at Elmhurst Athletics begins this week, with women's soccer and football opening their seasons at Langhorst Field while men's soccer, volleyball, and women's golf. Preview all Bluejay athletic events this week with the August 28-September 3rd edition of the Bluejay Weekly.

FOOTBALL

Elmhurst football kicks off their 2023 campaign this Saturday, September 2, welcoming Adrian College for a 1:00 p.m. CT kickoff at the newly improved Langhorst Field. This will be the Bluejays' first game under new head coach Mike Murray, who was tabbed as the leader of Elmhurst football in December 2022. The team returns numerous participants from last season, and look to build off an 0-10 campaign in 2022 under new leadership.

MEN'S SOCCER

Head coach David DiTomasso and the EU men's soccer team kicks off their season with a road trip to the Longhorn State. The men will begin on Friday, September 1 with an 8:00 p.m. CT kickoff against Trinity University (Texas), and will wrap the trip on Sunday, September 3 against Southwestern at 1:00 p.m. CT.

The men were picked to finish sixth in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) this upcoming season, and look to build off an overall record of 7-8-3 which saw the Bluejays qualify for the CCIW Tournament.

WOMEN'S SOCCER

EU Women's Soccer is also entering a new era in 2023, with new leadership looking to propel the team back into contention. Susie McCreery Foster joined the Bluejays as head women's soccer coach back in January after spending a number of seasons with CCIW foe Carroll University.

After a winless season in 2022, Elmhurst begins the 2023 season at home on Friday, September 1 against Dominican at 7:00 p.m. CT. The game will also serve as the grand opening of the newly improved Langhorst Field, featuring a new track and turf surface as well as a brand new scoreboard.

VOLLEYBALL

The Bluejay women's volleyball team looks to take their next step into CCIW contention in year two under head coach Cameron Andrew. The Bluejays kick off the 2023 campaign at the Sugar Loaf Classic, hosted by Saint Mary's University of Minnesota in Winona, Minn. with four matchups on the opening weekend.

On Friday, the Bluejays will play a doubleheader at 5:00 and 7:00 p.m. CT against Carleton College and the University of Minnesota Morris. Saturday, the Bluejays will square off with College of St. Scholastica and Saint Mary's University (Minn.) at 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. CT.

WOMEN'S GOLF

The Bluejays women's golf squad welcomes in a number of newcomers, and numerous returners will allow head coach Melissa Schwab the opportunity to build upon a successful 2022-23 season last year. 

Last Fall, Elmhurst took home team titles in three tournaments and placed fourth at the 2022 CCIW Championships. The 2023-24 campaign kicks off at Bristol Oaks Golf Club in Bristol, Wis. this Friday and Saturday at the Carthage College Invitational.
