ELMHURST, Ill. - Four members of the Elmhurst University women's track and field team, along with the 4x100-meter relay team, have qualified for the 2023 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships, as announced by the national office Friday evening.
Ava David,
Huda Hussaini,
Nakala Nadeau, and
Alyssa Rafuse qualified for the national championship event after strong outdoor seasons this past spring. Additionally, the 4x100-meter relay team consisting of
Lauren Marshall, Hannah Schwartz, Hussaini, and David also qualified for this year's national championship event.
David will enter the championships in both the 100-meter and 200-meter races, ranking eighth in the 100-meter with a qualifying time of 11.76 and 17th in the 200-meter with a time of 24.57. David earned runner-up honors in both races at the 2023 CCIW Outdoor Track and Field Championships, and earns her second-straight trip to the event.Â
Hussaini qualified for the national championships for the first time in her career, entering the 100-meter race ranked 18th with an 11.95 qualifying time.
Nadeau qualified for her second-straight NCAA Outdoor Championships in the 100-meter hurdles, qualifying for the event in 2022 and placing 19th. Nadeau is ranked 16th with a qualifying time of 14.11.
Rafuse enters the 2023 Outdoor National Championships as the reigning CCIW champion in the 1,500-meter run, and ranks 17th in the field of 22 with a qualifying time of 4:30.32.
The 4x100-meter relay team qualified for NCAA Championships for the second-straight season, entering this year's event sixth in the ranks with a time of 46.56.Â
The 2023 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships will take place next weekend, May 25-27, in Rochester, N.Y. at the Polisseni Track & Field Complex at St. John Fisher University. Full live coverage will be released at a later date.
