WHEATON, Ill. – The Elmhurst University track and field teams hosted their own invitational at Wheaton College this past Friday.
The women finished in third-place with 115 points, while the men earned a fifth-place finish with 65.5 points.
On the men's side, Michael Colant raced into 17
th-place in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.47 seconds, while
Andrew Wieser checked into 15
th-place in the 40-meter dash with a 55.59 second time.
James Palumbo placed ninth in the 1500-meter run with a 4:06.14, while teammate
Dylan Moran captured the event title in the 3000-meter run with a time of 8:51.72.
Eric Jandura and
TJ McNamara finished in fourth and fifth-place respectively in the 110-meter hurdles with times of 16.18 and 16.61 seconds.
Jandura also earned a fourth-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles with a 1:02.72, while
Adrian Campos checked into ninth-place with a time of 1:04.96 in the same event.
The 4x100 relay team featuring Julian Cavallo,
Luca Ferrantelli, Colant and Jandura clocked in a 46.10 second time to finish in fifth-place, while Brett von Schwedler cleared a height of 1.77 meters in the high jump to earn a third-place finish.
Logan Turney and
Matt Tobin claimed fifth and sixth-place in the pole vault clearing heights of 4.15 meters and 4.00 meters respectively.
Rickey Martinez won the event title in the triple jump with a distance of 13.22 meters.
Patrick Campbell followed closely behind in the same event jumping 12.07 meters for a sixth-place finish.
Chris Pedersen claimed a sixth-place finish in the hammer throw with a distance of 35.87 meters, while von Schwedler finished in third-place in the javelin throw with a distance of 43.13 meters.
On the women's side,
Ava David earned a second-place finish in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.06 seconds. That time ranks third in the CCIW currently.
Huda Hussaini checked into fourth-place in the same event with a 12.20, while
Lauren Marshall clocked in a 12.53 second time for an eighth-place finish.
David and Hussaini finished second and third in the 200-meter dash with times of 25.38 and 25.48 seconds respectively. Hussaini's time ranks fourth in the conference to date.
Naomi Jones claimed a fourth-place finish in the 400-meter dash with a time of 59.89 seconds.
Sadie Hartmann finished closely behind in the same event with a 1:02.09.
Alyssa Rafuse ran a conference-leading time in the 800-meter run of 2:15.02 to earn a second-place finish.
Esther Brown finished sixth in the event with a 2:25.13.
Annie Bieda checked into seventh-place in the 3000-meter run with a time of 11:15.09.
Nakala Nadeau clocked in a 14.37 second time in the 100-meter hurdles for a second-place finish. Nadeau also placed seventh in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:12.19.
The 4x100 relay team featuring
Hannah Schwarz Marshall, David and Hussaini broke the school record set last year by .26 of a second. The team claimed the event title and rank second in the CCIW with a time of 47.22 seconds.
Angelina Camaci and
Vashayla Bradley placed fifth and seventh in the high jump with a cleared height of 1.47 meters.
Kate Weber and
Kelsey Becker cleared heights of 3.25 meters and 3.10 meters to finish seventh and eighth in the pole vault.
Lauren Marshall captured the event title in the long jump with a distance of 5.38 meters, while
Vanessa Carr jumped 5.31 meters to earn a second-place finish.
Carr also finished in third-place in the triple jump with a distance of 10.69 meters, while
Erin Matthias and
Rachael Dickenson tied for seventh-place in the event with a distance of 9.90 meters.
Ericka Creek threw a distance of 40.96 meters in the hammer throw to earn a fourth-place finish.
The Bluejay track and field teams prepare for the conference championships on May 5-6 at Carroll University.
