WAUKESHA, Wis. – The Elmhurst University men's lacrosse team snapped a two-game losing streak with a 21-1 victory over Carroll University at Schneider Stadium.
Elmhurst (10-4/2-3 CCIW) held the Pioneers scoreless in the first half and netted 15 goals from nine different Bluejays.
Ethan Phillips scored the sole Carroll goal with 14:07 remaining in the third quarter. The Bluejays added in six goals in the second half to secure a key conference victory.
Carroll (3-13/0-5 CCIW) was led by Phillips who finished with one goal and tallied seven shots, four of which were on goal. Brady Raczkowski picked up a team-high eight groundballs, while Spence Lautner, Sam Kopshinsky and Raczkowski caused three turnovers apiece in the loss.
Parker O'Leary led the way for the Bluejays scoring four goals and picking up four groundballs. Following closely behind was
Chris Haycock who added in three goals and dished out one assist, while
Jake Grebe and
Ryan Swank contributed a hattrick of goals apiece in the win.
As a team, Elmhurst won 24-of-25 faceoffs with
Tony Vazquez finishing 10-of-10,
Harry Moriarty going 10-of-11 and
Brenden Crouse winning 4-of-4. Vazquez also picked up a game-high nine groundballs.
Jake Gehl collected 19 saves in goal for the Pioneers, while
Noah Mickelson and
Andrew Lacksonen combined for seven saves to earn the win for Elmhurst.
The Bluejays travel south to Lexington, Ky. for their final regular season conference game on Saturday, April 29 at 1:00 p.m.
