Men's Lacrosse Drops Final Contest of 2023 Season

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Elmhurst University men's lacrosse team wrapped up its 2023 campaign with a 12-16 loss to Transylvania University at Pat Deacon Stadium.

Transylvania's Dalton Hubbs got the Pioneers on the board with his first goal of the contest with 14:41 left to play in the opening quarter.

Ryan Swank responded quickly with a Bluejay goal at 13:23, but Hubbs netted back-to-back goals for Transylvania to put the Pioneers up 3-1 with just under 10 minutes to play.

Elmhurst (10-5/2-4 CCIW) trailed 3-5 at the end of the first quarter.

Both squads scored a pair of goals in the second period, which gave the Pioneers a 7-5 advantage at the half.

Transylvania (5-10/4-2 CCIW) outscored Elmhurst 9-7 in the second half to clinch their spot in the CCIW tournament next week.

The Bluejays were led by Kaden Ames who finished with four goals. Chris Haycock added in a hattrick of goals and one assist, while Jake Grebe, Tony Vazquez, Matt Koshiol and Swank scored one goal apiece. Eli Spence also contributed one goal and one assist in the loss. Vazquez won 21-of-31 faceoffs and picked up a game-high 11 groundballs for the Bluejays.

Hubbs led the way for Transylvania with five goals and four groundballs. Will Warner and Ryan Geisler chipped in two goals and two assists apiece, while Casey Fagan netted three goals for the Pioneers. Ben Marcum caused four turnovers as well in the win.

Noah Mickelson collected 15 saves in goal for the Bluejays, while Jackson Wilson earned the win for Transylvania with 14 saves.

Elmhurst closed out its 2023 season with a 10-5 overall record and a 2-4 mark in the CCIW.
