CAROL STREAM, Ill. - The Elmhurst University baseball team fell to 25th-ranked Augustana College (Ill.) by a score of 1-7 Sunday afternoon at Lee Pfund Stadium.
Elmhurst (8-10, 0-3 CCIW) managed just three hits in the contest, as strong pitching from the Vikings (16-4, 1-0 CCIW) stifled the Bluejay bats throughout the contest.
Troy Taller started the game for the Bluejays, working through jams in the early innings and holding the Vikings to just two runs through three innings, but a three-run fourth inning chased the starter out of the game, with Taller taking the loss on the mound to drop to 1-1 on the season. Harrison Boushel of Augustana tossed eight innings of three-hit baseball, giving up just one run while sitting down 12 batters to improve to 5-1 on the season.
Trey Romay collected two of the Bluejays' three hits in the game, with Jesee James collecting the other and also tallied the lone RBI for Elmhurst in the game.
Ryan Thrawl also contributed for the Bluejays by working a pair of walks in the contest.Â
