Bluejays Topple Raiders

ELMHURST, Ill. – The Elmhurst University men's lacrosse team earned a dominant win over the Milwaukee School of Engineering, 22-6, at Langhorst Field.

The Bluejays jumped out to 4-0 lead in the first 3:50 of play. Sean Roberts scored the first goal for the Raiders with 8:04 left to play in the opening quarter, before Ryan Swank responded less than a minute later with his first goal of the contest to put the Bluejays ahead 5-1. Elmhurst led 7-2 at the end of the first period.

Josh Kubicki netted the first goal of the second period for the Bluejays, before MSOE (0-3) scored back-to-back goals to put them within four goals with just under six minutes to play in the first half. Elmhurst rattled off three unanswered goals before halftime to increase their lead to 11-5.

Elmhurst (4-0) outscored the Raiders 11-2 in the second half and held MSOE scoreless in the fourth quarter in route to its fourth win of the season.

Peter Russchenberg led the way for the Raiders with two goals, while Tanner Whipps, Soren Savard, Roberts and Riley Woyatas netted one goal apiece in the loss. Carson Harris and Roberts tied for a team-high four groundballs for MSOE.

The Bluejays were led by Eli Spence who finished with five goals and two assists. Following closely behind were Jake Grebe with four goals and three assists and Kaden Ames with four goals. Chris Haycock added in three goals in the win as well. Tony Vazquez scooped up a game-high 14 groundballs and won 20-of-27 faceoffs.

Noah Mickelson earned the win in goal for Elmhurst with five saves, while Thomas Miles and Darian Stricker combined for 26 saves in the loss for the Raiders.

The Bluejays hit the road for their next contest to take on Albion College on Saturday, March 11 at 12:00 p.m. CT.
