Bluejays Win Fifth Straight

ALBION, Mich. – The Elmhurst University men's lacrosse team earned a 20-17 win over Albion College to remain undefeated.

The Britons struck first with a goal by Timmy Salinas at the 11:21 mark in the opening quarter. Kaden Ames found the back of the net two minutes later to tie things up at one apiece.

Albion (4-2) netted back-to-back goals to take a 3-1 lead with 5:37 remaining before Sante Dybowski evened the score 3-3, with a pair of goals five seconds apart.
The Britons added in two more goals before the end of the first quarter to hold a 5-3 advantage over the Bluejays.

Elmhurst (5-0) outscored Albion 5-4 in the second quarter to only trail by one at the half.

Seven different Bluejays scored the eight Elmhurst goals in the third quarter in route to Elmhurst taking a 16-14 lead over the Britons.

Albion was able to get within two, 19-17, with 3:20 remaining in the fourth, but the Bluejays extended the lead to three, 20-17, with one final goal by Brenden Crouse with 25 seconds left in the contest.

Elmhurst was led by Eli Spence with five goals and three assists with teammate Jake Grebe following closely behind with four goals and two assists. Dybowski added in three goals and three assists, while Ames finished with three goals and one assist in the win for the Bluejays. Tony Vazquez won 26-of-36 faceoffs and grabbed a game-high 20 groundballs.

The Britions were led by Sam Puzevic who finished with three goals and four assists. Jace Conley contributed four goals and two assists, while Cal Stearns added in three goals and one assist in the loss. Eddie Symons picked up a team-high seven groundballs for Albion.

Noah Mickelson earned the win in goal for Elmhurst with 11 saves, while Jack Erickson and Jack Gogonis combined for 15 saves for the Britions.

The Bluejays travel to Aurora University on Wednesday, March 15 to take on the Spartans at 7:00 p.m.
