ELMHURST, Ill. – Keep up with all of the Elmhurst University athletic teams and take a look at the week ahead with the Bluejay Weekly.
MEN'S LACROSSE
The Elmhurst University men's lacrosse team continued their hot start to the 2023 season with a pair of victories last week. The Bluejays began the week with a 22-6 victory over MSOE at Langhorst Field on March 8 before taking down Albion College 20-17 on the road last Saturday, March 11. The Bluejays are now 5-0 on the season, the team's best start to a season in the program's history. The Bluejays are the 22nd-ranked scoring offense in the NCAA and third in the CCIW while also ranking 15th in the NCAA and second in the conference in ground balls per game with 44.25. Additionally,
Eli Spence tops the CCIW and ranks 15th nationally in points per game with 6.75.
The team will look to continue their streak with a road matchup at Aurora University on Wednesday, March 15 at 7:00 p.m. CT.Â
WOMEN'S LACROSSE
Elmhurst women's lacrosse dropped a pair of non-conference games last week, falling to Bethel University (Ind.) 5-20 last Tuesday, March 7, and dropping a road contest at Marian University by a score of 1-12 on March 10. The Bluejays are 0-3 on the young season thus far.
This week, the women return to Langhorst Field for a 4:00 p.m. CT matchup with Beloit College.
BASEBALL
The Elmhurst baseball team dropped both ends of a doubleheader to Kalamazoo College last Saturday, March 11, by scores of 3-7 and 0-5. The Bluejays now sit at 3-6 overall in the 2023 season.
Warmer weather and more baseball is ahead for the team, however, as they head to central Florida for their spring break trip beginning on Sunday, March 19 with a doubleheader against Bard College in Auburndale, Fla. The Bluejays are set to play six games in a span of four day next week from Sunday, March 19 to Wednesday, March 22.
SOFTBALL
After a week break from action, the Elmhurst softball team is set to continue their hot start with a doubleheader at Aurora University on Saturday, March 18 at 12:30 and 2:30 p.m. CT.
The Bluejays have begun the season 4-0, their best four-game start to a season since 2008.Â
MEN'S TENNIS
Tennis season is set to begin this week, with the men's tennis team kicking off action at Brune Tennis Courts against the College of Lake County at 4:00 p.m. CT on Wednesday, March 15. The Bluejays look to improve on a 2021-22 season that saw Elmhurst go 7-10 overall, and are already 2-0 on the 2022-23 season with a pair of fall victories over McHenry County College and Concordia University Chicago.
