BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – The Elmhurst University track and field teams ran in the CCIW Indoor Championships hosted by Illinois Wesleyan University.
The women finished just three points behind North Central College to earn a second-place finish with a team score of 141.50, while the men tallied 19 points for a ninth-place finish.
Ava David earned her first conference title in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.70, with teammate
Huda Hussaini finishing right behind her with a 7.77 for a second-place finish.
Lauren Marshall checked into sixth-place with an 8.01 in the event as well.
David and Hussaini finished in second and third-place respectively in the 200-meter dash with times of 25.29 and 25.59.
Hannah Schwarz also scored in the event for the Bluejays with a 26.36 for a sixth-place finish.
In the 400-meter dash, David won her second conference title of the day with a 57.37, while
Naomi Jones clocked into fifth-place with a time of 1:00.39.
Alyssa Rafuse earned a second-place finish in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:20.81.
Esther Brown raced into fourth-place with a time of 2:24.68. Rafuse bounced back to earn the conference title in the mile run with a 4:57.59. Brown also scored in the event with a time of 5:18.03 for a fifth-place finish. Rafuse capped off her day with a 10:27.56 in the 3000-meter run for a third-place finish.
Nakala Nadeau won the conference title in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.76.

Elizabeth Jones,
Venezia Munoz, David and Hussaini checked into second-place with a 4:02.04. Elmhurst was able to earn the conference title in the women's distance medley with a time of 12:26.61.
In the field events,
Angelina Camaci finished in fifth-place with a cleared height of 1.45 meters in the high jump, while
Kelsey Becker and
Kate Weber both scored in pole vault with cleared heights of 3.21 meters and 3.06 meters for sixth and eighth-place respectively.
Francesca Scarabaggio captured the women's long jump conference title with a distance of 5.26 meters, while
Lauren Marshall clinched a fifth-place finish with a distance of 5.14 meters.
Vanessa Carr jumped 10.96 meters in the triple jump for a third-place finish, while
Sarah Stephens checked into seventh-place in the indoor pentathlon.
On the men's side,
Braxston Redmond clocked into third-place in the 400-meter dash with a time of 50.44, while
Marvin Tchangwa finished in ninth-place in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:59.39.
Dylan Moran earned a sixth-place finish in the 5000-meter run with a time of 15:14.24, while the 4x400 relay team featuring
James Palumbo,
Nick Williams, Redmond and Tchangwa checked into ninth-place with a 3:36.40.
The men's distance medley placed fifth with a time of 10:41.33, while Rickey Martinez jumped to a fourth-place finish in the long jump with a distance of 6.55 meters. Martinez also scored in the triple jump with a distance of 12.92 meters.
Both men and women track and field squads are back in action at the Wartburg College Final Qualifier on Saturday, March 4.
