ELMHURST, Ill. – Keep up with all of the Elmhurst University athletic teams and take a look at the week ahead with the Bluejay Weekly.
MEN'S BASKETBALL
The Elmhurst University men's basketball team is set to begin postseason action this Tuesday, Feb. 21 in the CCIW Tournament Quarterfinals, hosting North Central for a 7:00 p.m. CT tipoff inside R.A. Faganel Hall.

Elmhurst (16-9, 8-8 CCIW) is the fourth seed in the tournament, earning the right to host North Central (14-11, 8-8 CCIW) who enters the tournament as the fifth seed.Â

Bluejay fans planning to attend Tuesday evening's game should take note of changes required as a result of hosting a conference tournament game. No CCIW basketball passes will be accepted for admission, and students with a valid CCIWÂ ID will receive free admission. Adults are $10, students/seniors/ children between the ages of 6-14 are $5, while all children under five are free. Tickets will be available at the main entrance and are cash-only.

For the first 100 students who enter the game Tuesday evening, special "Ring the Bell" t-shirts will be given away. Students are encouraged to come out, wear your Bluejay Blue, and cheer on the team.
TRACK AND FIELD
Last week at the F. Lee Slick Invitational, the Bluejays had a strong showing as the women dominated the competition earning a first-place finish with a team score of 146.5, while the men earned a multitude of top-five finishes at the event for a fourth-place finish.

Ava David won the event title in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.70 seconds.Â

Lauren Marshall finished in second and fourth place respectively with times of 7.74 and 7.84 seconds. On the men's side, Â
Braxston Redmond secured the event title in the 400-meter dash with a time of 49.89 seconds.

Both squads are back in action on Feb. 24 and Feb. 25 at the CCIW Indoor Championships in Bloomington, Ill. Fans can follow the action on live stream and live results feeds.
MEN'S LACROSSE
The Bluejays opened their 2023 campaign on Sunday afternoon, taking down Birmingham Southern College 17-13 in Bloomington. The Bluejays were led by
Eli Spence with nine points featuring six goals and three assists.
Jake Grebe added in three goals and three assists, while
Kaden Ames opened up his collegiate career with four goals and two assists.Â
Tony Vazquez won 24-of-30 faceoffs and picked up a game-high 18 ground balls.
Noah Mickelson earned the win in goal with 15 saves for Elmhurst.

This week, the men will travel to Michigan for a matchup with Hope College at 1:00 p.m. CT on Saturday, Feb. 25.
WRESTLING
Elmhurst wrestling is set to continue their postseason journey this weekend, Feb. 24-25, at the NCAA Upper Midwest Regional Championships in Concordia, Wis.Â
Last time out at the 2023 CCIW Wrestling Championships, The Bluejays placed a pair of wrestlers on the podium, and seven total wrestlers finished in the top six of their weight class. As a team, Elmhurst placed sixth.
Norbert Crecan had the best finish of the day, making a run to the championship match at 184 before medically forfeiting the match to place second.Â
Roberto Pena reached the semi-finals of the heavyweight division and ultimately finished in third place on the podium, whileÂ
Justin Hames also reached the semi-finals of the 133-pound division before falling in the consolation championship, finishing in fourth place.

Jeff Nugent (165), andÂ
Colin O'Neill (197) all bounced back from an opening loss to finish fifth in their weight classes, whileÂ
Joe Caringella (174) wrapped up the placements for the Bluejays with a sixth-place finish.
BASEBALL
Bluejay baseball will open their 2023 season this Friday and Saturday, Feb. 24 and 25. On Friday, Elmhurst will face off against Blackburn College at 1:00 p.m. CT, and Saturday will face Loras College and Illinois College in a doubleheader at 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.

Elmhurst will look to build off of a 2022 season which saw the team go 13-23 overall and 4-14 in conference play. Elmhurst returns
Trey Romay, who led the team in average (.368), hits (43), and stolen bases (12), and
Freddie March who led the Bluejays in home runs (13) and RBI (38).
SOFTBALL
Elmhurst softball is set to open the 2023 season this Friday with a pair of games held in Peoria, Ill. at the Blue Angel Invitational. Elmhurst will open the season against Finlandia University at 12:30 p.m. CT before facing off against Knox College at 2:30 p.m.

The Bluejays look to bounce back from a 2022 season that saw Elmhurst go 10-22 overall and 3-13 in the CCIW.
BOWLING
Last time out, the Bluejays recorded a 2-11 overall record at the Lewis Strom Flyer Classic in Lockport, Ill. with wins over Augustana College and Illinois Wesleyan University.

Elmhurst bowling hits the lanes again this Friday-Sunday, Feb. 24-26 in Quincy, Ill. at the Hawk Classic.
