ELMHURST, Ill. – Keep up with all of the Elmhurst University athletic teams and take a look at the week ahead with the Bluejay Weekly.

MEN'S BASKETBALL

The Bluejays dropped a pair of conference games last week, falling to Carroll 64-65 last Wednesday evening before falling in a double overtime thriller to North Park 90-93 last Saturday. Elmhurts now sits at 15-8 overall with a 7-7 CCIW record.

The final week of the regular season is here, and Elmhurst will look to lock up their spot in next week's CCIW Tournament with a pair of home games this week. First, Elmhurst will welcome Augustana College to R.A. Faganel Hall on Wednesday, Feb. 15 for a 7:00 p.m. CT tipoff. The two teams last met on Jan. 18, falling on the road to the Vikings 67-86 in Rock Island. Augustana owns a 7-16 overall record and a 5-9 CCIW record, and are heading into Wednesday evening's matchup on a three-game losing streak.

The regular season will wrap up on Saturday, Feb. 18 when the Bluejays host conference leader and the seventh-ranked team in the nation, Wheaton College, to R.A. Faganel Hall for a 4:15 p.m. CT tipoff. Saturday is also senior day, where Elmhurst will honor seniors Ocean Johnson, Jonathan Zapinski, Myles Thomas, and Wesley Hooker for their significant contributions to the Bluejays during their time on campus.

Wheaton comes to Elmhurst boasting a 20-3 overall record and a 13-2 mark in conference play. The last time the two teams met, the Bluejays snapped the Thunder's four-game winning streak and handed Wheaton their first conference loss of the season, a 79-75 overtime victory for the Bluejays in Wheaton.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL

Elmhurst women's basketball looks to end the season on a high note this week with a pair of CCIW matchups. Heading into the week, the Bluejays are 3-19 overall and 1-13 in CCIW action.

The Bluejays will hit the road for their final road contest of the season on Wednesday against Millikin, who recently won a share of the CCIW regular season championship and secured a top-two seed in next week's CCIW Tournament. Elmhurst welcomed Millikin (19-4, 13-1 CCIW) to R.A. Faganel Hall on Jan. 18, a 43-94 loss for the Bluejays.

Elmhurst will wrap up their season this Saturday to kic off a doubleheader with the men's team. The women will also be celebrating senior day by honoring senior student-athletes Taylor Harazin, Sophia Micos, and Maddie Decman, student manager Jade Link and graduate assistant coach Kevin Fisher. Elmhurst will welcome Wheaton College (14-9, 9-5 CCIW) for a 2:00 p.m. CT tipoff. The two teams last met on Dec. 10, a 45-83 loss in Wheaton.

TRACK AND FIELD

Last week, the Bluejay men's and women's track and field teams competed at the GVSU Big Meet and the Titan Open on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 10 and 11. At the GVSU Big Meet,  Alyssa Rafuse broke the school record in the mile run with a personal-best 4:59.07 to earn a third-place finish, while Ava David and Husa Hussaini ran times of 7.70 and 7.82 in the 60-meter dash to pace the CCIW performance sheet at first and second, respectively.

At the Titan Open, the women notched their second-straight second place finish in a meet with Nakala Nadeau earning the event title in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.01 seconds and Lauren Marshall earning a second-place finish in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.90 seconds, while  Marvin Tchangwa finished in sixth-place in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:00.27 and Rickey Martinez jumped into second-place in the long jump with a distance of 13.03 meters for the men.

This week, the teams will head to Naperville for the NCC Slick Invite on Friday, Feb. 17.

MEN'S LACROSSE

Bluejay men's lacrosse will open their season this Sunday, Feb. 19 with a road contest against Birmingham Southern hosted in Bloomington at 4:00 p.m. CT. The men look to build off their 2022 season where the team went 10-6 overall with a 2-4 record in the CCIW.
