ELMHURST, Ill. -Â The Elmhurst University women's volleyball team grabbed a pair of sweeps over Wheaton College (IL) and the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse Friday afternoon to open the 2023 Elmhurst University Invitational.
Elmhurst (15-8, 2-5 CCIW) began the day with a conference matchup against Wheaton, using a first set rally to propel the team to their second conference victory of the season and keep the Bluejays in contention for the CCIW Tournament.
In the opening match, the Bluejays were led by 10 kills and nine digs from
Aly Reardon and a nine kill performance from
Kali Phillips.
The Bluejays were down 23-15 late in the opening set, but rallied to outscore the Thunder 11-1 to take the opening set, 26-24. From there, Elmhurst cruised, taking set two 25-12 after opening with a 9-0 run, and using another 7-2 opening run in the third to take the 3-0 victory over Wheaton.
In match two against the Eagles, both teams were competitive and evenly matched, but the Bluejays used a 13-kill performance from Phillips and a 12 kill, 12 dig double-double from Reardon to pull ahead of the visitors and earn their second sweep of the day.

Elmhurst will wrap up their six-match homestand tomorrow, OCt. 28, afternoon, hosting the 20th-ranked Pointers of UW-Stevens Point in a 3:00 matchup inside R.A. Faganel Hall.
