ELMHURST, Ill. – Keep up with all of the Elmhurst University athletic teams and take a look at the week ahead with the Bluejay Weekly, released every Monday.

This week (January 9-14), men's and women's basketball compete just once (Wednesday) while the wrestling team will host two events in R.A. Faganel Hall, including the annual Al Hanke Invitational on Saturday. The men's and women's track and field teams will also be competing this weekend, heading to Boston, Mass. for the Suffolk Ice Breaker.

MEN'S BASKETBALL

After picking up their second conference win over Millikin last Wednesday, the Bluejays dropped a hard fought conference matchup at North Park on Saturday to go 1-1 on the week. Elmhurst now sits at 10-5 overall on the season and a 2-4 record in CCIW play.

This week, the team is scheduled to play just one game this Wednesday, Jan. 11 welcoming Carroll University to R.A. Faganel Hall for a 7:00 p.m. conference bout. Carroll is 4-10 on the season with a 1-4 mark in conference play, and is coming off of a 32-point loss at Augustana College (Ill.) last Sunday. 

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL

The Elmhurst University women's basketball team dropped a pair of conference matchups last week against Augustana College (Ill.) and at North Park and now sit 2-12 overall with a 0-6 CCIW record. 

Elmhurst will look to bounce back this week on the road, traveling to Waukesha, Wis. on Wednesday to face off against Carroll. The Pio's women's hoops team is 8-6 overall and 3-2 in conference play, and narrowly lost to Augustana by three points on Sunday, Jan. 8. 

WRESTLING

The Bluejay wrestling team hit the mat for the first time in the new year last week, narrowly falling to Wheaton (Ill.) 24-25 in Elmhurst last Friday. The Bluejays are 3-5 in dual matches this season, with a 1-4 mark in conference duals. 

Elmhurst will wrap up their home schedule this week, hosting a pair of events inside R.A. Faganel Hall. To start, Elmhurst will welcome nationally-ranked North Central College to town on Thursday, Jan. 12 for a 7:00 p.m. conference meet. Then, the Bluejays will play host to the 40th annual Al Hanke Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 14 beginning at 9:00 a.m.

TRACK AND FIELD

Bluejay men's and women's track and field will hit the track for the first time in the new year this weekend, traveling to Boston, Mass. for the Suffolk Ice Breaker hosted at The Track at New Balance.

The indoor season began for the Bluejays at the beginning of December at the ONU Holiday Invite where Ava David and Huda Hussaini both finished in the top-eight of the 60 meters and Hanna Matuszewski closed out the top-10 finishers in the 200 meters with a time of 27.38 seconds. Nakala Nadeau also shaved off .19 seconds from her previous school-record in the 60-meter hurdles to win the event with a time of 8.94 seconds.
