ELMHURST, Ill. – Keep up with all of the Elmhurst University athletic teams and take a look at the week ahead with the Bluejay Weekly.

MEN'S BASKETBALL

The Elmhurst University men's basketball team split a pair of road games last week, falling to Augustana before defeating Carthage 70-64 last Saturday, Jan. 21. Sitting at 12-6 overall and 4-5 in conference play, the team enters a pivotal few weeks looking to lock a spot in their fifth-consecutive CCIW Tournament. Jonathan Zapinski broke the all-time block record for the Bluejays last weekend, and sits six blocks away from breaking the record for blocks in a season.

The team will return home to R.A. Faganel Hall on Wednesday, Jan. 25 to take on Millikin at 7:00 p.m. CT. Elmhurst won their previous road contest at Millikin by a score of 70-59 on Jan. 4, and the Big Blue enter the matchup 9-9 overall and 2-7 in conference play after defeating Augustana 79-73 at home last Saturday evening. 

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL

Last week, the Elmhurst University women's basketball team dropped a pair of conference matchups to Millikin and Carthage. Sitting at 2-15 overall and 0-9 in conference play, the Bluejays will look to gain their first conference win on the road at Augustana on Wednesday, Jan. 25 at 7:00 p.m. CT.

WRESTLING

The Elmhurst University wrestling team were a perfect 2-0 at the CCIW Duals hosted by Concordia University Wisconsin last Saturday, Jan. 21. The Bluejays defeated Aurora, 25-23, and MSOE, 33-17, to move to 5-6 overall and 3-5 in CCIW dual meets. A trio of Bluejays were 2-0 on the day, with Justin Hames, Jeff Nugent, and Roberto Pena all earning victories to help propel Elmhurst. Colin O'Neill, Troy Mock, and Dom Iannatone also earned match victories for the Bluejays. 

Another tournament is ahead for the Bluejays, as the team will travel to Wheaton, Ill. to participate in the Pete Wilson Invitational on Friday and Saturday, Jan. 27-28.

TRACK AND FIELD

The Bluejay men and women competed at the I-55 Invite hosted by Illinois Wesleyan last weekend, with the women finishing in third place and the men in fifth out of five teams. On the men's side, Braxston Redmond checked into third-place in his first ever 200-meter dash with a time of 23.06 second, while  Ava David won both the 60-meter dash and the 200-meter dash for the women.

The teams will head to Chicago, Ill. this weekend for the Aurora Grand Prix with the men competing on Friday, Jan. 27 and the women competing on Saturday, Jan. 28.
