GLEN ELLYN, Ill. - The Elmhurst women's tennis team had its four-match winning streak snapped in a 9-0 loss at North Central College.
North Central improved to 7-0 with the win while Elmhurst slipped to 4-1.
Elmhurst's No. 1 doubles pair of
Jolene Neuhalfen and
Isabella Rahman fell 8-0 to NCC's Kaeli Smashey and Natalie Bassett. The Bluejays' No. 2 duo of
Julia Kostadinova and
June Bering fell 8-0 ato Abigail Penados and Kensington Payne. At No. 3 doubles, NCC's Nina Patience and Anastasia Bozovic downed Elmhurst's
Silvia Barak and
Megan Engstrom 8-1.
In singles play, Smashey toppled Neuhalfen 6-0, 6-2 at No. 1 while Kostadinova fell 6-0, 6-0 to Penados at No.2. Bassett defeated bering 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3 while Payne toppled Rahman 6-0, 6-2 at No. 4. Kayla McSweeney defeated Barak 6-1, 6-0 at No. 5 while Liveta Ezerskis downed Brynn Bubacky 6-0, 6-0 at No. 6 singles.
Elmhurst hosts McHenry College on September 13.
