ELMHURST, Ill. - The Elmhurst University women's tennis team improved to 5-1 on the season by defeating McHenry Community College 7-2 at the Brune Tennis Courts.
Elmhurst swept the three doubles matches to start the day. The Bluejays' No. 1 duo of
Jolene Neuhalfen and
June Bering defeated Alana Cox and Katrina Neufeld 8-4. At No. 2, Elmhurst's pair of
Isabella Rahman and
Brynn Rubacky defeated Elle Lagerstrom and Riley Waslik 8-5. The Bluejays No.3 pairing of
Silvia Barak and
Megan Engstrom toppled Kaitlyn Mauck and Hailey O'Brien 8-7.
In singles play, the Bluejays won four of the six contests. Neuhalfen downed Cox 6-2, 6-1 at No. 1 while
Julia Kostadinova toppled Neufeld 4-6, 6-1, 10-3 at No. 2. Rahman defeated Waslik 6-3, 6-3 at No. 3 singles while Barak followed with a 6-3, 6-1 victory over Langstrom at No. 4
McHenry scored wins at No. 5 and No. 6 singles. At No. 5, Mauck defeated
Alitza Munoz 6-2, 1-6, 11-9. Hailey O'Brien stopped Elmhurst's
Valerie Schallmo 6-4, 6-2 at No. 6.
Elmhurst hosts Concordia University-Chicago on Thursday, September 15.
