ELMHURST, Ill. – The Elmhurst University men's soccer team fell 2-1 in a close contest against Dominican University at Langhorst Field.

The Bluejays (2-0-1) took an early lead in the 22^nd minute of play when Ilija Jerinic found the back of the net off of Noah Backhaus's original shot that ricocheted off the post.

Elmhurst led 1-0 at the half, but the Stars (2-0-1) started the second half with a goal by John Cronnolly in the first two minutes of play to tie the contest up at one apiece.

Cronnolly tallied his second goal of the game in the 53^rd minute when he headed the ball into the net off of a corner kick pass from Randall Pietrowski.

The Bluejays outshot Dominican 14 to 10 but were unable to convert the shots into a goal.

Noah Reed finished with two saves in the loss, while Victor Porada and Oscar Cerritos earned the win with a combined nine saves.

Elmhurst looks to bounce back at Lake Forest on Saturday, September 10 at 3:30 p.m.
