ELMHURST, Ill. – The Elmhurst University men's soccer team fell 2-1 in a close contest against Dominican University at Langhorst Field.
The Bluejays (2-0-1) took an early lead in the 22
nd minute of play when
Ilija Jerinic found the back of the net off of
Noah Backhaus's original shot that ricocheted off the post.
Elmhurst led 1-0 at the half, but the Stars (2-0-1) started the second half with a goal by John Cronnolly in the first two minutes of play to tie the contest up at one apiece.
Cronnolly tallied his second goal of the game in the 53
rd minute when he headed the ball into the net off of a corner kick pass from Randall Pietrowski.
The Bluejays outshot Dominican 14 to 10 but were unable to convert the shots into a goal.
Noah Reed finished with two saves in the loss, while Victor Porada and Oscar Cerritos earned the win with a combined nine saves.
Elmhurst looks to bounce back at Lake Forest on Saturday, September 10 at 3:30 p.m.
