ELMHURST, Ill. - The Elmhurst University women's tennis team ran its season-opening winning streak to four matches after blanking the College of Lake County 9-0 at the Brune Tennis Courts.
Elmhurst improved to 4-0 on the season with the victory.
In doubles play, the Bluejays' No. 1 pairing of
Jolene Neuhalfen and
Isabella Rahman blanked Bethany Linter and Danie Broege 8-0. At No. 2 doubles, Elmhurst's pair of
Silvia Barak and
Megan Engstrom defeated Eliza Marino and Kat Danilushin 8-4. The Bluejays' duo of
Alitza Munoz and
Olivia Grabowski rolled past Caelah Palumbo and Emily Padilla 8-0 at No. 3 doubles.
In singles play, Neuhalfen blanked Lintner 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 while
Julia Kostadinova followed with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Broege at No. 2. Rahman scored a 6-0, 6-2 win over Marino at No. 3 while Bering stopped Danilushkin 6-1, 6-3 at No. 4.
Valerie Schallmo toppled Caelah Palumbo 6-3, 6-0 at No. 5 singles while
Mary Bush scored a 6-1, 6-1 win over Padilla at No. 6 singles.
Elmhurst plays at North Central College tomorrow (September 7).
